FIGHTING SIOUX ATHLETICS NOW AVAILABLE WORLD WIDE
INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY TO ADD EXPOSURE FOR UND ATHLETICS
GRAND FORKS/ N.D. –Ralph Engelstad Arena, the University of North Dakota
Athletic Department, and BroadbandVideo announced jointly today that beginning
fall 2003, select Fighting Sioux hockey, basketball, and football games will be
available worldwide via a live video webcast system. Video webcast is the newest
and most exciting way to watch University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux
Athletics. UND will be one of the few universities broadcasting games utilizing
video through the internet.
Select games will be available through a pay-per-view process or through various
packages. Available options include: single games, football package, hockey
package (including away games where available), or basketball package. A premium
Sioux-Per package is also available and includes the basic package plus bonus
content such as press conferences, player and coach interviews, game highlights,
etc. The webcast system will air its first internet streamed game September 6th
when the Fighting Sioux football team hosts the University of
Minnesota-Crookston at 1:00 p.m. That game is a free demonstration of video
webcast and will be available to the first 300 viewers that sign up. The US
College Hockey Hall Of Fame game will also be offered as a free demonstration
game and will be available October 4th as the Fighting Sioux men’s hockey team
hosts the University of Minnesota-Duluth at 7:05 p.m.
Fighting Sioux fans will be able to access video webcast by going to
www.theralph.com and selecting the “live events” link to purchase and view live
and archived Fighting Sioux games. "We are thrilled to have Fighting Sioux
Athletics available world wide by way of video webcasting," said University of
North Dakota Athletic Director, Roger Thomas. “UND Athletics will be one of the
few collegiate programs that offer this groundbreaking technology to its fans.”
