BROADBANDVIDEO STREAMS VIDEO FOR CITY OF
LITTLETON, GREENWOOD VILLAGE AND CHARITY EVENT
Littleton, CO – The City of Littleton and
BroadbandVideo have joined forces to “stream” city
council meetings from the City of Littleton
website (http://www.littletongov.org) using new
and innovative web video technology. Greenwood
Village has chosen the same technology to showcase
“The Mayor’s Show” (http://www.greenwoodvillage.com)
and the Annual Fuller's Denver Polo Classic
Weekend (http://www.denverpolo.org) features video
of previous events.
BroadbandVideo is a technology framework provider
for Website owners who wish to effectively deploy
streaming media (audio and video) on their
website. In the case of Littleton, city council
meetings are “indexed” so visitors to the site can
view just the portions of the meetings in which
they have interest. The actual agenda for the
meeting is posted on the website and made
“clickable” – users can then choose to view
specific items on that agenda.
“With our system, you no longer have to sit
through information that is not of interest,”
stated Denny Reinert, VP Sales. “You can now go
directly to any part of the proceedings and view
just that portion. We also encode the video so
users with dial-up modems can experience the
proceedings as well as those with high-speed
connections”.
Using Windows Media Technologies, the team at
BroadbandVideo has developed a series of solutions
for streaming media on the Internet. These
solutions allow video on their clients’ Web sites
to be delivered to the end user in a manner more
consistent with an enhanced broadcast television
station.
City council meetings are just the beginning, as
the video production arm of the City of Littleton
has also started to stream other kinds of
city-produced programming.
“It’s almost better than watching it live,” says
Littleton Webmaster Cathy Weaver. “For example, if
a visitor is only interested is seeing how city
council voted on agenda item 7a, then they just
click a link on that item. They don’t have to wait
for the first four items on the agenda to see the
outcome of that vote.”
